Project Scope:

Improvements of a busy rapid transit station, including full compliance with ADA standards, bus and train transfer upgrades, enhanced neighborhood connectivity, reduced maintenance costs, and improved customer and employee safety. The use of federal funds triggers review under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. This process requires the identification of historic properties that may be affected by the undertaking, assessing potential effects, and (if necessary) developing solutions to avoid, minimize, or mitigate adverse effects on these properties.

Our Scope:

CERA staff collaborated with Julia Bachrach, Consulting, to provide the required documentation on behalf of CTA for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), which served as the lead agency for the project.  This documentation was accepted by staff at the Illinois State Historic Preservation Office (ILSHPO), allowing for the release of funds.
